After 2.5 years of being in Temasek Polytechnic, I'm officially over it! (Did i say this before? oh well, I like the sound of that no matter how many times i say it) Being through 5 semesters, forced me to make friends with many many different people, and complete projects with different people every semester too. (Because my luck is bad enough that every semester after Year 1, I don't get anyone I'm close with in 1H13) But I guess its a chance for me to make more friends and to know people. And, I really do enjoy every semester, with my various group members. Therefore, I shall introduce my wonderful and I seriously do emphasize on WONDERFUL group members. =D

Shall start with the latest, Semester 3.1
Group members include: Yue Wen, Cassandra, Reuben and Jocelyn Poh

The good thing about this group is that, we all know each other well even before the semester started. Basically lots of good and bad times, but mostly chionging of projects took up most of our time. But still, the trip to Haw Par Villa and the URA building was fun, and since all of us love FOOD, eating was also quite an important thing, food always come first before any other thing. =D

And I do say, our projects did well, we spent lots of time, but we got the grade that we expected, at least no Cs and Ds (that we know of....) And obviously presentations are what we are best at, since talking is like the BEST thing we can do, presentations are easy! Love ya guys!

Next Semester 2.2,
Group members include: Sharon Poh, Jolene, Sock Leng and Jocelyn Poh (again!)

This group I got nothing to say, except spending too much time on FUN, and just forgot about the importance of projects. LOL! We're basically playing mahjong or computer games most of the time. Project meetings were basically spent doing those things, but seriously I feel damn happy doing that, at least we passed all our subjects so still okay. =D

We spent a day heading to Pulau Ubin for cycling and fun, even though there was rain in the middle of the journey. And we spend another day heading to Fort Siloso just to take pictures and have fun once again. And most of the time, I'll always remember our favourite hangout, SUPERDOG! Always sitting there eating hotdogs and fries. And and, we keep saying want go LUGE together but never ever happen......

Well, at least we did have lots of fun, even though we didn't really know each other well before the semester. (even though almost all of us were in the same class in sem 2.1) Love ya guys too!

Next Semester 2.1,
Group members include: Juz, Nirosha, Eileen, Steffi

Apparently the damn chiong group, although the results we got were quite a disappointment, but still okay, at least presentation got help ALOT! This is the time where I seriously outcast myself, not mixing with the class but rather running off everytime lessons end. I name it Steffi's outcast group, because most of the time, we won't mix with the others, but run off and find our clique once lesson ends. And also SSM time, the early in the morning 8am task, argh, still gives me the creeps but a really good experience, real fun with the group that I'm in.

We also headed to Botanic Gardens, Changi Airport and Clarke Quay which was really quite a task. Changi Airport was okay, but I still remember, we went to Botanic Gardens, took a photo at the entrance, went in less than 100m and we said, "Okay, we're done, lets go next place, damn hot!" It was really really scorching hot, and we just left. =D

This group was really cool, I like the way we always have fresh and creative ideas which were seriously very nice, but apparently not to those tutors liking. =_=
But nevermind, I like them! Time was mainly spent in project rooms, coming up with ideas or getting parts of the project done. Love ya guys too!

Next Semester 1.2 and 1.1,
Group Members include: Bi Yin, Jocelyn Foo, Zakiah, Su-lin, Regina

This is the official O.C.K. clique, which we created during our freshmen orientation, and our friendship is still going strong now. =D

Projecting with them is really always fun, since we each have different strengths when it comes to projects, we didn't really have much conflict, and I dare to say the grades I receive was GREAT! Mostly As!

The one thing that creates the greatest impression was our OB role play, it was the best I feel out of the entire class. I can still remember the entire plot and the scenes, from the news reporter (Jocelyn who was supposed to act as the lady on The Noose), the live reporter (Me, and I'm named MiaoMiao with a "Miao" after I say my name everytime), the emo kids (Regina and Su-lin who had to cut their wrists according to "Victory" by Bond), the emo kid's Mum and an extra calefare (Bi-yin who had to act sooooo auntie in one scene and "hot" in another scene where she had to appear sexy) and lastly, a security or just a calefare auntie (Zakiah, who comes out to pull the "hot" Bi Yin away but ends up vying to be on the news) Really very very very funny, together with the various music that we played, we just went all out and performed like our last show. LOL!

And another one that I will always remember is when IntHt was returned to us, the tutor (shall not name names) said we did a very good job, and that he knows we spent alot of time on it, blah blah blah. And he said so many good things, and when he showed us the grade, C+. We basically hit rock bottom, until now we still remember what he told us and our expressions after he said that. =_=

But still you guys are the best I'm sure you guys know that. Even as internship is starting, we shall not lose touch okay? Outings frequently even though its just for dinner or some chit-chat.

Love you guys the most already! =D

Thinking back on all those good times and bad times,
Thinking that all those are coming to an end,
Really bring tears to my eyes as they have already
Became a memory that will be etched deep in my heart.

Miss Those Days...

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Friday marks the end of all the presentations for my Polytechnic life, also the end of wearing formal wear to TP. Kinda having mix feelings, leaving TP in half a year's time, and its time to fend for myself. I guess I'm still not ready to proceed out, I hope to stay in my own little world.

Took photos as a class, and took photos with some of my classmates for this semester, although we didn't really bond well as all we did was stay in the same room for lessons and that was about it, but still played a part in my life. So? CHEERS! =)

I shall talk about my group members another time.....

Sunday was Singapore's 44th Birthday, and a day for us to view fireworks on display. (more pics and video of the fireworks display are on my facebook) Headed to Marina Square area with ah bu, ah geng and reuben to watch. Initially wanted to go to marina barrage, but apparently we don't know the way there.

The sudden feeling of patriotism was so intense when everywhere around the district was filled with red and white clothes, national day songs, flags and lots of national day related stuffs. Stood around and started singing those songs, felt the primary and secondary sch times where singing these songs were a chore, but now, it felt great to sing them.

Sat at the patch of grass and slacked, played some games, chit-chatted, and people-watch for a few hours and finally the display which we anticipated for so long......

Saw the helicopters and planes fly past.

Walked along and saw some tankers.

The street was closed because they know we're passing by.

Watched UP yesterday with my sister and nieces, obviously she paid. THANKS SIS! =)
Its quite a show, rating? 4.5/5
Actually the show is very different from what the trailer shows, and most of the funny parts of the movie were seen in the trailer, the other parts of the movie were really great. Shall not be a spoiler and tell the story. Watch it. Really great! (Although, my nieces were noisy, and one even peed on my sis's pants)

I HATE IT WHEN BRUNO IS R21, I HAD WANTED TO WATCH IT! DAMNIT!

Took this during the wait for the fireworks, nice isn't it??
Hope to see the sky in many different cities......

Semester 3.1 is coming to an end, and very soon, internship will start.....
The APEL class had made me think...
What had this 3 years in TP gave me?
Had this 3 years been meaningful or useless?
Is there any legacy I want to leave behind?
What do I want people to remember me as even 10,20 years down the road?

Have you guys ever thought of this?
Anyways, this video is really cool, watch it...
If you're too lazy to watch and listen to it, look at the words below, really meaningful!

Wear Sunscreen

If I could offer you only one tip for the future,
sunscreen would be it.
The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists,
whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience
I will dispense this advice now.

Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth, oh nevermind,
you will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they’ve faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself
and recall in a way you can’t grasp now, how much possibility lay before you
and how fabulous you really looked,
you are not as fat as you imagine.

Don’t worry about the future, or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.
The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4pm on some idle Tuesday.

Do one thing everyday that scares you

Sing

Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts,
don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours.

Floss

Don’t waste your time on jealousy, sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes you’re behind,
the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with yourself.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults,
if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements.

Stretch

Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life,
the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22
what they wanted to do with their lives,
some of the most interesting 40 year olds I know still don’t.

Get plenty of calcium.

Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone.

Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe you won’t,
Maybe you’ll divorce at 40,
Maybe you’ll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary
What ever you do, don’t congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either
Your choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s.
Enjoy your body, use it every way you can, don’t be afraid of it,
or what other people think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever own

Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room.

Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them.

Do not read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly.

Brother and sister together we’ll make it through
Someday a spirit will take you and guide you there
I know you’ve been hurtin, but I’ve been waitin’ to be there for you
And I’ll be there just helping you out whenever I can

Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for good.

Be nice to your siblings, they are the best link to your past
and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.

Understand that friends come and go, but for the precious few you should hold on.
Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle because the older you get,
the more you need the people you knew when you were young.

Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard,
Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.

Travel.

Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will philander,
you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize that when you were young
prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.

Respect your elders.

Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
Maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one might run out.

Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you’re 40, it will look 85.

Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it.
Advice is a form of nostalgia,
dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off,
painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

But trust me on the sunscreen

Gonna think things through and ..................
