Firstly, I want to say Blogger takes super long for photos to be uploaded! Hates! Pardon me for the random rant.

After studying for 3 years at Temasek Polytechnic, I'm finally graduating! Super proud of myself! *gleams*

So, HTMIG (Hospitality and Tourism Management Interest Group) organised our so-called FIRST Graduation Party for the diploma. Previous years have failed either because of insufficient people attending or the members of the IG couldn't be bothered to organise one. So I am really thankful that our batch of IG members are really enthusiastic about it, and sincerely thank them for organising such an event for us, the school-leavers. They really put in alot of effort to make this a success, of course without us, the very "on" HTMers, this party wouldn't even work out, so we're partly the reason to the success!

So the theme of our party was "AM (I R)eady!" It's literally asking if we are ready to proceed on to work/study/NS and also indirectly linking the entire theme with the IRs (integrated resorts) which are definitely the hottest aspect of the H&T industry now. So, the dress code was "Tourists VS Staffs", which meant that we have to either dress up as tourists visiting a destination or service providers that serve tourists during their trip. Not to complain, but initially when we were informed of the dress code, most of us were quite disappointed, as it's quite difficult to think of the various costumes to dress up. But having been there, and done that, I got to say, most of us were zealous in our efforts to come up with interesting costumes. No wonder HTM is the most "rah-rah" (TP's word for enthusiasm) diploma in Temasek Polytechnic. Kudos to us!

In our efforts to find something that matches the theme, my clique of friends headed down to Chinatown to look for some clothes that fits the theme "Tourists". We decided to dress as flowery people, mostly Hawaiian style. Obviously we ended up having a meal first before proceeding with our main purpose. We had lunch at this Korean restaurant located beside CTC travel agency, near Chinatown Point. Didn't check out the name of the restaurant, but it's opened by Koreans I guess, since the lady who greeted us was speaking in relatively poor english, with a mixture of Korean accent, I presumed she's the owner.

The restaurant offered set lunch at a price of $9-$9.90. The food was delicious and looks really good. Huge servings and even provides 5 side dishes to go with the main dish. Definitely worth the price! As for items found in their menu, the prices are still considered quite reasonable, and definitely looks as good as the photos presents them!

Food Quality: 8/10
Food Portion Size: 8/10
Value for Money: 8/10
Ambience: 9/10 (Small and peaceful)
Service: 8/10 (Although staffs are C-people, and couldn't understand English that well, they are still very polite!)
Recommended for: Anyone! People looking for cheap Korean lunch sets can head there and try.

After our filling lunch, we walked around the area, and in roughly 2 hours, all of us bought something flowery, which may/may not fit the theme.

On 24.02.2010, the actual day of the party, all of us got ready and headed down by MRT to Orchard. Did I mention that the party was held at...

So, it was rather embarassing for all of us, wearing flowery clothes which most Singaporeans won't be wearing when heading out and taking the train. But still, we did make it alive, and I shall assume that none of the passengers on board took a picture of us and sent it to STOMP! or were laughing at us because of our hideous outfits.

Logo for the theme! I think I'm ready!

The invitation card, 3 gold coins for gambling at a small table (Those are actually chocolate coins, and one has to accumulate 35coins to win a voucher. I basically ate 2 of it, since I couldn't be bothered to go gamble, and I must say, it tasted really well!) , and the door gift, a CHIP! Really nice, and fits the theme really well. Got to praise the person who thought of the idea! Although you won't be able to place a bet with that chip at any casino, but still, a really good souvenir.

Decorations put up in the banquet room, didn't really notice what the signs mean, but who cares! Poly to me must be something similar to what everyone else in HTM thinks right? There was also a heart shape made up from photos of various HTMers randomly found on Facebook I guess. Oh yes, whoever who likes those photos are able to take them off and bring it home. And of course, most of the photos are gone. Goes to show we're typical Singaporeans too!

Individual pics I took with all my friends and lecturers who were with me during my 3 years. Really thank all of you for enduring all my nonsense and sharing all your laughter, stress, tears and many more with me! Without all of you guys, and the support I have throughout, I wouldn't have made it. I'm not flattering you guys, I'm serious! You guys made my school life a BLAST, especially O.C.K. and Frenz! No clique better than this! Love you guys LOTS! Click on it to get a clearer view.

Due to the reason that O.C.K. and Frenz have more than 10 members in the clique, we were forced to be separated. And I got to say, it wasn't an easy task to separate us. Especially when I was to accomplish such an impossible mission! Thousand million Several times of changes were done after an e-mail was sent to the person handling the seating arrangements. Boy, was it tough!

The "Cheapo" family in O.C.K. and Frenz. Haven't introduced the members before, so I'm gonna do it now:

Lau Bi-yin- Mother of the family, 禽兽也不如 (Worse off than an animal/beast) person.
Jocelyn Foo- Other mother of the family, Lesbian partner with Bi-yin.
Reuben Ho- Elder son, Born because Bi-yin was super deprived and found a random ABNN to fulfill her sexual desires.
Jimmy Cheang (Me)- Younger son, Born because Bi-yin was again super deprive, found a stray cat on the streets, had sex with it.
Ong Su-lin- Youngest daughter, born from an anonymous sperm donor, from one of the eggs from either mum.
Cassandra Ho-Tan- Elder daughter in law, wife of Reuben, perfect match since he is hairless, and she's bushy.

Yup, that basically explains the entire family. Mostly fictional, and I'm pretty sure they'll all kill me if they see this. But, I got to keep a record for it, since it's my blog, I'll read it in the future, and definitely laugh it off, since I'm already laughing while typing this! LOL! Oh, and I'm not gonna delete any part of it away, so curse me if you want! =D

Group Pic! O.C.K. and Frenz with a shortage of some people, since they rather run away and take photos with someone else. You know who you are!
Next, I'll tell you about the menu! A Chinese dinner, that is neither filling or superbly delicious! No offence to the IG though, since this is prepared by the hotel.

Dish 1- Combination of Deluxe Appetizers: Roasted Duck, Mini Octopus, Deep-fried mushrooms filled with shrimp paste, Jellyfish and Spring Rolls. Got to say this is the best dish that is served, mostly because it's a mixture of various delicious items. Everything was not bad, but I didn't try the octopus so I don't know how it tastes, but it just looks gluey, and looks as if the octopus is still looking at me. GROSS!

Dish 2- Stir-fried Shrimps and Cuttlefish With Celery in "Tom Yam" sauce. The prawns were really fresh and tastes really well. Didn't eat anything else, don't like cuttlefish, hates celery!

Dish 3- Braised Shark's Fin soup with Bamboo Pit and Shredded Chicken. Delicious! The shark's fin was really shark's fin, and not those cheap pasar malam kind okay? I know eating Shark's Fin is bad, but seriously, who can resist the temptation of such a delicacy?

Dish 4- Braised Black Mushrooms and "Bai Lin Zhi" Mushrooms with Vegetables. The mushrooms were quite tasty, since they practically absorbed most of the sauce. But the vegetables were disgusting. The sauce and the taste of the lettuce was disgusting, doesn't even taste good together. Bet the chef didn't try it, when he decided to use lettuce. (That should be lettuce right? If I'm wrong, do correct me, but whatever the veg was, it's disgusting!)

Dish 5- Steamed Sea Bass in Soya Sauce. A very simple dish, but still tastes nice. The fish was very fresh, but the waitress who did the debone did a lousy job at it. There were still plenty of bones when she provided each of us a serving! I'm not reprimanding her or anything because she did help us alot, and always with a smile. But she should improve her skills at deboning. If you're reading this, I welcome you to help me debone all the fishes that my family cooks!

Dish 6- Wan Hao Signature Crispy Roast Chicken. I wonder who's Wan Hao? The chicken is indeed crispy, apart from that, nothing special. I would prefer a signature rather than this signature dish. My sister can do better than that!

Dish 7- Stir-fried Crispy Noodles with Shredded Duck Meat and Vegetables. Hate this dish to the max! Super alot of spring onions and beansprouts! Took me a long time to take them all out, and by that time, the noodle wasn't even crispy anymore! Lost the appetite to finish it up.

Last Dish- Pan-fried pastry Filled With Red Bean Paste, Deep-fried Dumpling Filled with Lotus Seeds Paste. The red bean paste pastry taste nice, very sweet! Didn't eat the dumpling though, because I thought it was the disgusting yam. Upon blogging now did I found out it was actually lotus seeds paste! Damn! Should have tried it!

Anyways, that's all for the menu. Sorry to say, but the food wasn't that great! Buck up, Marriott, if not I'm not recommending your hotel to other friends when they wanna arrange a banquet, because the food wasn't up to standards! HAHAHAHAHA!

The entertainment provided by the IG was really nice as well. Really thanks for all the efforts done. Can't remember much of what was presented and performed, but mostly games and videos. Didn't manage to take photos of them.

So, after the entire party ended, as well as all the photo-taking sessions. the clique was off to Top One! Gonna sing the whole night away! Because it was so late, there wasn't any trains going to Bugis, so we decided to walk down, and stop at bus stops to try out luck.

Because most of them were wearing flowery costumes, they looked like high end service providers from the social escorts group, and the lady on the right looked like their "Mamasan", who takes special care of each one of them, and ensures that they are "sold" for the day.

The unethical Singaporeans, walking along Orchard Road on their bare feet! They either are hallucinating that this is a beach with beautiful white sand, or that they are Indians walking along the streets during Thaipusam.

It was actually due to tired legs because of those high-heels and also the pair of new loafers which caused the heels to bleed. Well, like what people always say, 爱美不要命, Being pretty is more important than life.

Utlimately, we managed to catch a bus so that we can walk less. Look at all those flowery clothes, and the place we're going sure looks like they are all gonna be "SOLD"!

At the entrance to Top One is a steamboat shop, and at that point of time. Most of the people who were there were all C-people. It's like a horny C-people gathering. Upon seeing a group of ladies passing by, all their eyes begin to shine like stars. Super gross! Partly because they do indeed look like fellow country friends working in the Red-light district.

Don't you think so? And they are really very cheap! $2.50 for the entire room full of them. Don't even have to pick, you get all of them! Interested parties may send me an email, I'll negotiate with their "mamasan" for a better price, since you're all readers of my blog. =D

The entire feeling of the Karaoke has the red-light district feel. Maybe it's just the photos, what with the blurry faces and the long hair covering the face kind of tricks. It's as if policemen has found them, and are bringing all of them to the police station to detain them, like what happens in most Hong Kong dramas and movies. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Well, that's the end for the entire Graduation party day! And a shocking thing is that I actually spend almost 1hour and 30mins to get this done! Think I just have many things to say, but there are still many left unsaid. Till next time then! =D
